March 2328 - First colony built on Mars. Consisted mainly of military
and research personnel but later expanded to include commercial ventures in the
areas of biology, cartography, mineralogy, and military research. Completed in
2334.
September 2408 - Both Genesis Starstation and Starpath Starstation are
completed in orbit around Earth and Mars, respectively. Both stations are
quasi-military, with independent interests.
May 2415 - The Insurgents, a group of dissidents opposed to EarthCOM
activities and UFN policies that are leaving the Earth bereft of natural
resources, begin political activities in an attempt to gain the balance of power
and implement their own "Earth First" policies.
April 2899 - A Terran deep space probe, Voyager 2, discovers
extra-terrestrial life in Alpha Centauri. Space research is boosted by 75%. Work
begins on new engines, reactors, and space craft components. Insurgent political
activities becomre stronger as the possiblity of alien life forms becomes real.
October 2907 - The first long range MassDrive reactor, which uses a
mineral mined from asteroids as fuel, and incorporates a ZeroPoint Energy
Converter to build up the massive energies required for space travel, is
developed. The MassDrive uses Radine crystals as an excellent source of power to
maintain safe nuclear output.
January 2910 - The android Arianne sends back supporting data of
intelligent life from its fly-by of Alpha Centauri. Space exploration begins to
flourish as technological advances make space craft safer and more economically
viable for large companies.
July 2915 - Scientists continue to explore methods of halting the
human body’s metabolism in order that it could endure deep space travel. The
first stasis experiments are performed on animals.
January to August 2919 - Stasis experiments are performed on Terran
subjects. It becomes possible to reduce the body’s metabolism by stasis. Some
subjects were in this form of ‘hibernation’ for as long as 5 years with no side
effects. It becomes possible for a body to remain in stasis indefinitely. By
further expanding on this technology, a device is developed which creates the
proper conditions within an environment, such as a space ship, that would allows
the body’s metabolism to progress at its normal rate relative to the distance
traveled. This, and the increased speeds of new engines, makes space travel far
easier. Traveling vast distances at several times the speed of light, takes a
matter of months instead of years. The term light speed (LS) is used in
measuring the distance traveled by a spacecraft. Lightspeed is equivalent to the
speed of light or approximately 299,800 km/sec.
December 2925 - The first military research spacecraft is completed.
The Sphinx class Battlecruiser, Seeker. This craft was fitted with a MassDrive
reactor and Syrian Mark IV engines. With advanced hull design and life support
systems this ship could withstand the harsh forces of interstellar space on its
journey to Alpha Centauri. It was capable of speeds in excess of several times
the speed of light.
January 2926 - ECV-Seeker is commissioned for deep space travel. Its
crew, all veteran astronauts, are hand-picked from advanced nations on Earth.
The crew is put in stasis during the long journey. Their mission: to explore
Alpha Centauri and "make contact" with intelligent life.
June 2928 - ECV-Seeker is intercepted by an alien lifeform. Contact is
made with mankind’s first extra-terrestrials, the Empirians.
2963 - By this stage, Terrans have made contact with all known
life-forms in the Milky Way Galaxy.
April 2964 - Daniel Londono is born to parents working as Terran
diplomats.
March 2965 - The UFN declares the Insurgents an outlaw organization.
October 2965 - Emma Norbury is born to parents, a systems engineer
(father) and a doctor (mother), on Earth.
September 2967 - The first navigation chart is completed. It divides
the galaxy into four quadrants with each being named after the predominant
occupying alien nation. All known stable flux-fields are marked with navigation
buoys, and become known as "Jump Points". Droidan and Syrion technology is used
to outfit space craft with hulls powerful enough to use flux-fields and
wormholes to move through the galaxy.
March 2967 - Commander Gareth DeSylva is born to parents, a teacher
(mother) and a shuttle pilot (father), on Earth.
April 2968 - Geryg Chavik is born to Sira and Karda Chavik.
October 2968 - Daniel Londono is en route to the Falkyrie homeworld on
a transport in a convoy with his parents. The transport is attacked by raiders.
His parents escape, but the transport Daniel is in is boarded and disabled. When
the crew finally manages to launch escape pods, they are captured by an Assassin
base nearby. The children on board are allowed to live, and are used as by the
Assassins as recruits. Here Daniel would stay, adopted by assassins and
mercenaries, until 2980.
December 2971 - Cody G. Bader is born in the town of Kellner, Ramus
province of Mars.
December 2973 - Jeehun Ristar born to Tanis and Jael Ristar on Saturn.

fights for three years as part of the Falkyrie Resistance.
February 2980 - Cody G. Bader is recruited by the Mars Orbital Space
Flotilla, where he rises to the rank of Senior Lieutenant, before being released
from service in 2987. Joined EarthCOM Academy of Mars the following year.
October 2983 - The ECV-Torment, despatched into a war zone, is rapidly
attacked and disabled by Valkerie forces. Daniel Londono takes part as a freedom
fighter in a mission that enables the Torment to escape the region. He is
reunited with both his parents, and the UFN. He is regarded by some as a hero.
January 2984 - Daniel Londono enrolls in EarthCOM Academy after
helping his parents as a diplomatic aide for several months.
15th March 2985 - Michael Kristophers is accepted into EarthCOM
Academy. His father, James Kristophers, presumed dead, is revealed to be a
member of the Insurgency.(VM)
December 2986 - Geryg Chavik graduates in Astronautical Engineering
from an Earth university and immediately joins a free trader, the Cornucopia, as
a Systems Engineer, under the command of a Commander Pallo. Begins employment on
a new ship, the Lanyard, as chief Engineer, in 2988.
December 2987 - Daniel Londono graduates in the top 5% of his class,
and is voted "Most Likely to Charge the Enemy Head On". The simulation his
friends bet no one could beat, the "Tac-V", remains a minor legend in GALCOM
training circles. Daniel Londono is assigned to the ECV-Torment as Tactical
Officer.
July 2988 - Daniel Londono is promoted to Commander and is given
command of the ECV-Fedaykin.
January 2989 - Cody G. Bader graduates from the EarthCOM Academy and
begins active EarthCOM duties.

Academy of Saturn. He graduates three years later with the class of '93. During
his studies he meets both DeSylva and Norbury while on joint maneuvers and
befriends them. On graduation he becomes a platoon leader in the 103rd Orbital
Marine Battalion (Recon).
March 2990 - The ECV-Fedaykin is lost in a conflict with Vesperon
forces. Commander Londono and many of the crew manage to escape the carnage.
May 2990 - Daniel Londono forms the SDF Fleet, and serves as the
acting fleet commander during the initial stages of fleet construction.
January 2991 - After much lobbying by Commander Daniel Londono for a
permanent base for his SDF fleet, the hulk of his lost flag-ship, the
ECV-Fedaykin is found. It’s shell is relocated to the surface of Mars and a new
military training center and base is built in and around it. This facility
becomes known as the SDF Academy.
April 2992 - After many months of desk work, Commander Londono
discovers the mothballed ECV-Usagi. He requests, and is granted, a full refit of
the Usagi.
June 2992 - A minor Insurgent uprising takes place on Earth, as
Insurgent rebels launch an ill-fated attack on the main EarthCOM starbase on
Earth. A young officer named Jeskovic, later to serve on the GCV-Deliverance,
was the genius behind the Lloyd-Cross Pincer, so named due to the fact that it
ended the minor rebellion. The Insurgent rebels were cut to pieces at the
Lloyd-Cross Junction as they marched onto Galcom Earthbase. This maneuver hepled
seal the treaty between the GALCOM nations, proving to the Empirians and
Vesperons that the Terrans were worthy military allies (CBS).
December 2992 - Gareth DeSylva and Emma Norbury both graduate from the
EarthCOM Academy. On DeSylva's request, they are stationed as part of the 15th
Planetary Force, the space-bound section of EarthCOM's forces. They are assigned
as Combat Medics on the ECV-Starstriker, a Constellation Class Battlecruiser.
January 2993 - The 103rd OMB embarks on a secret mission to
reconnoiter a Gammulan chemical factory on their main starbase on Gamma-1. Most
of the battalion is eventually lost, but the information gathered was
instrumental in exposing Gammulan arms production and heightening the push to
form a Terran-Extraterrestrial alliance.
May 2993 - The situation in the Terran quadrant goes from bad to worse
and the instability in other quadrants threatens to cause even more problems.
EarthCOM is hard pressed to carry out its duties. Galactic Command, GALCOM is
formed.
July 2993 - The ECV-Starstriker is transferred to GALCOM control, and
the crew reassigned to the GALCOM Navy. The craft is renamed the GCV-Journeyman.
July 2993 - Geryg Chavik, seeing the worsening situation in the Terran
quadrant and the galaxy at large, applies to GALCOM Academy to train as an
engineer.

meets Sonja Demag, an Interceptor pilot who he eventually marries.
July 2994 - A GALCOM test-pilot named Neman Vorne attacks and mortally
injures Lieutenant Commander Emma Norbury on the GCV Journeyman, and escapes
with an experimental craft, intending to defect to the Insurgents. Lieutenant
Commander DeSylva is forced to take the second experimental craft. A violent
space battle ensues, during which Vorne is defeated by DeSylva and captured.
September 2994 - Neman Vorne escapes GALCOM custody on the day that
Lieutenant Commander Norbury is awakened from her time unconscious in a cloning
tank, rebuilding her damaged body. Vorne sends several violent threats to the
two officers, and several Insurgent attacks target the medical facility they are
residents of. In an attempt to escape Vorne, both DeSylva and Emma go into
hiding, running from both GALCOM and EarthCOM military police, and Vorne's
Insurgent forces.
January 2995 - Alun Tringad joins GALCOM Academy.
September 2995 - In response to the SDF’s growing power in GALCOM
circles, a young, militant Commander named Antti Junkkari forms a new fleet. He
names this fleet Orion, and takes as members only those Commanders who can prove
themselves and their ships in combat. Orion rapidly earns a reputation as an
elite fighting force. rivalled only by the GALCOM First Space Marine and First
Orbital Marine Battalions, otherwise known as Prime Force.
June 2995 - Gammulans attack Saturn during the main settlement’s
annual "Festival of the Rings". By the time GALCOM forces arrive, over 800
people are confirmed dead and most of the main settlement has been destroyed.
Jeehun Ristar, on leave on Saturn, survives.
December 2995 - Due to the transfer of credits from his first degree,
Geryg Chavik is able to graduate a year early and begin active GALCOM service.
He is immediately pressed into service as Chief Engineer on the GCV-Singularity.
Soon after, a field promotion to Tactical Officer becomes permanent.

Space-Flight Academy and is posted on the GCV-Journeyman as an Interceptor
pilot.
November 2996 - Jeehun Ristar graduates from GALCOM Officer's Academy
as an Engineering Officer. His first posting is as Chief Engineer on the
GCV-Journeyman.
March 2997 - Jeehun Ristar is posted aboard the GCV-Usagi, under the
command of Commander Daniel Londono, as Chief Engineer.
May 2997 - The newly refitted and upgraded GCV-Usagi is involved in an
encounter between Diplomatic vessels and an assassination attempt in the Jupiter
region. Commander Ristar's performance during this incident leads Commander
Londono to recommend him for his own command.
July 2997 - Jeehun Ristar is promoted to the rank of Commander and is
given command of the GCV-Shogun.
August 2997 - The Battle of Mars occurs - Insurgent dissidents based
both in the colonies of the red planet, and in surrounding space, close on
EarthCOM space forces stationed at Starpath. GALCOM reinforcements arrive in
time to save almost half of the EarthCOM 15th Planetary Force. This is the final
blow to EarthCOM's space program; the UFN endorses GALCOM's complete adoption of
the stellar defence program. In an attempt to retain some semblance of a space
presence, EarthCOM relocates it's 15th Planetary Force to neutral Empirian space
under a joint treaty with the Empirians. Several bases are built in the area,
and the 15th Planetary Force is placed under the command of one of EarthCOM's
finest commanders, Commander T. C. McQueen.
October 2997 - In the aftermath of the Battle of Mars, a new GALCOM
Commander, Den Dee, decides to try and strengthen the presence of GALCOM in Mars
by commandeering land adjacent to the grounds of the SDF Academy and throwing it
open to GALCOM Commanders to build private residences there. The "Commander’s
Village" becomes the centrepiece of camaraderie and fellowship within GALCOM
ranks, and Den Dee becomes the first Village Keeper.
February 2998 - Geryg Chavik is given his own command ship. Within a
few months, both he and his crew are becoming increasingly concerned with the
UFN and GALCOM's policies and procedures. Within six months his parents have
been arrested by EarthCOM military police as "Insurgent Sympathisers". Chavik
and crew renegade themselves and join the Insurgents.
March 2998 - the GCV-America is lost, presumed destroyed by raiders
(CBS).
May 2998 - Commander DeSylva and Lieutenant Commander Norbury are
discovered working on a trading vessel in the Credian Quadrant. They are taken
under armed escort to GALCOM HQ, where they are, to the surprise of many,
reinstated to their previous ranks. Commander DeSylva is promoted to Commander
and given command of the GCV-First Light.
May 2998 - Geryg Chavik is made Base Commander of the newly
constructed Insurgent Sanctuary Storage Facility.
June 2998 - Cody G. Bader is promoted to Commander. Commander Bader is
put on the waiting list for a command ship.
July 2998 - GCV-Starlight is destroyed by Valkerie forces in Empirian
space. The only survivor is an Interceptor pilot, Ramon du Sandau, who is
stabilised in a deep coma (CBS).
November 2998 - GCV-Stargazer, GCV-Recovery, and GCV-Starsearch are
lost in the Gammulan quadrant.
December 2998 - Seeing the role of the SDF beginning to change,
Commander Londono seeks and is given approval to form a second fleet. This
fleet, named "Wraith", is constructed from the beginning with one aim in mind -
the formation of a swift, accurate, and stealthy tactical strike force.
August 2999 - Alun Tringad, after serving for two years under
Commander John Anderson on the GCV-Flash Fire, is promoted to Commander and is
given his first command, the GCV-Black Falcon.
September 2999 - Wraith Fleet HQ built on the front lines of Terran
territory - a result, it is rumoured, of friction between Commander Londono and
the Supreme Commander.
November 2999 - Ramon du Sandau awakens from his coma (CBS).
November 2999 - Commander Bader is given command of the GCV Minos
Corva.
December 2999 - Ramon du Sandau is presented a medal for his conduct
during the attack on the GCV-Starlight. He is also given a new posting - as
Commander on a Galactan class Battlecruiser; the GCV-Deliverance (CBS).
January 3000 - The GCV-America, after two years missing presumed
destroyed, is discovered by Commander du Sandau, still very much intact. Du
Sandau realises that the Gammulans are capturing Terran ships in an attempt to
use them against the Terran military (CBS).
February 3000 - The InSystem Support fleet is formed, with Commander
DeSylva and Commander Ristar at the head. Facilities around Saturn for the fleet
are constructed.
February 3000 - Shortly after joining the ISS Fleet, Alun Tringad
embarks on a secret mission, and becomes the first person to penetrate the
Insurgency and survive for five months as a spy (GWI).
February 3000 - In an attempt to discover what the Gammulans are doing
with their stolen ships, two of du Sandau’s officers agree to go undercover,
manning a trader known as the Summertime and posing as traders and smugglers
(CBS).
February 3000 - The 7th and 8th Orbital Marine Battalions are
reactivated after a period of being disbanded. Commander Bader, aboard the GCV
Minos Corva, is put in command of these battalions.
March 3000 - Commander DeSylva is placed on an extended shore leave
and the GCV First Light placed off-line as confusion reigns in GALCOM Fleet
Command. After receiving submissions from many of GALCOM’s finest commanders, in
particular from Commander Londono, whose SDF experiences provided much valuable
input, DeSylva drafts the proposal for the fleet structure as it stands today -
the Fleet Groups Terra, Tactica, Ragnarok, and Prime.
March 3000 - With the fleet structure and roles decided, the SDF
fleet’s role turns from that of a covert strike force, to a more multi-polar
defensive fleet. Commander Londono relinquishes control of the SDF to the
Supreme Commander himself.
4th April 3000 - In an astounding turn of events, Karl Savage is
promoted from the position of File Clerk, to that of Commander, and given
command of the GCV-Tsunami. and GALCOM has regretted it ever since...*grin*.
(Origins)
April 3000 - The Summertime is destroyed by an attack from unknown
forces. Although the source of the attack is unknown, it is strongly suspected
Gammulan forces are responsible. At the same time, du Sandau is involved in one
of GALCOM’s major blunders - three passenger transports are mistakenly tagged as
weapons smugglers, and the GCV-Deliverance is sent to destroy them (CBS).
April 3000 - Galactic Command steps up its recruiting campaign as a
result of increased conflicts within the Terran quadrant, the disappearance of
more vessels in the Gammulan quadrant, and rumors of an invasion by an alien
force. The SDF fights it’s first (and to date, only) campaign against Gammulan
forces. After the conflict, funding is diverted from the SDF project to other
areas of Fleet Command.
April 3000 - Another minor Insurgent uprising takes place on the
surface of Mars. It is quickly put down, but most of the people injured were
innocents. GALCOM is criticised for it’s heavy-handed approach to the affair.
June 3000 - Lucifer, a pilot on the Deliverance, defects to the
Insurgents after his family are killed by the Deliverance two months earlier
(CBS).
July 3000 - Lucifer’s replacement, a pilot named Caesar, arrives on
the Deliverance and rapidly begins to disrupt proceedings.
August 3000 - The First Gammulan Conflict erupts. Gammulan forces,
trying to steal information about a secret fuel based on the element Iridium,
launch a full-scale assault on Terran space, where a secret base has been
established by EarthCOM and Empirian military scientists on the surface of
Neptune. The war lasts only two weeks. It begins with a planned meeting between
Insurgent and GALCOM forces, in an attempt to safe-guard the return of the spy
Alun Tringad. This meeting rapidly degenerates when massive cloaking traces are
detected. An enormous Gammulan fleet makes it’s presence known in Polaris,
before pushing through to Jupiter, where a GALCOM force spear-headed by Orion
Fleet manages to hold it back. Commander DeSylva, knowing they need the
Insurgents as allies to try and overcome the vast odds they are facing, forces
GALCOM Fleet Command to approve a new set of IFF codes, using the largely unused
SDF designator and reapplying it as Terran Defense Fleet, to both Insurgent and
GALCOM ships. The conflict ends with the Insurgents largely unscathed, GALCOM
taking moderate losses, and EarthCOM on it’s knees, it’s secret base on the
surface of Neptune devastated by a massive nuclear attack launched by the
Insurgent Akira for reasons that are still classified. Corsair Wing of Wraith
fleet finds itself deep in enemy territory, and begins the long journey home.
For more information about the First Gammulan Conflict, please see the ISS
history archives (GWI).
September 3000 - Commander Akira, after launching his devastating
attack on the surface of Neptune and disappearing into unknown space, is
recovered in a covert operation by Insurgent personnel. The Nevermore and
Commander Akira are transported back to Starstation Spectre to recover, and a
blood price is put on the head of Neman Vorne, who by this stage has been
implicated in the Gammulan invasion of Sol (FA).
September 3000 - Desperately seeking some answers as to why their IFF
codes were sabotaged, Corsair Wing, under the command of Commander Gallion,
continue their journey out of Gammulan space. After a chance meeting with the
GCV-Midway, Gallion realises that there is only one person who he can trust to
know how the code sabotage occurred - somone outside GALCOM itself. Insurgent
One, the honourable leader of the Insurgents. He journeys to starstation Spectre
to try and find out more. Eventually he leaves, seriously injured after being
attacked by the Insurgent Akira. He demands, and is given, a complete refit of
the Graf Spee, incorporating the latest in stealth technology. (Turning).
September 3000 - Hot on the heels of their massive military strike on
Neptune and Jupiter, the Gammulans launch another attack. They use their "Lost
Fleet" of stolen Terran ships in an attempt to capitalise on a Terran empire
that is still teetering after the First Gammulan War. This attack is aimed at
Polaris-2 (CBS).
October 3000 - The First Light is diverted to Procyon to aid an
EarthCOM cruiser that has been attacked by unknown forces. In conjunction with a
spy known as Symon Stryde, DeSylva manages to track Neman Vorne to the location,
and discovers that he has commandeered a splinter force of Insurgents, and is
harrying EarthCOM and GALCOM forces in an attempt to take advantage of their
time of weakness, as the new war in Polaris heats up. Neman escapes before he
can be brought to justice, and takes Stryde with him.
October 3000 - Massve nuclear bombardments are launched on Polaris-2,
devastating much of the surface. The Gammulan forces begin to fall back (CBS).
December 3000 - Tracking Neman Vorne to an abandoned space facility of
unknown origin in a largely unused region of space, DeSylva and his crew are
finally able to bring the traitor Vorne to justice, before his plan to strike
deep at the heart of GALCOM and the Terran government can come to fruition.
Vorne is captured, tried, and convicted, before being sentenced to life
imprisonment, incarcerated in the Terran maximum security prison "Despair",
located deep beneath the surface of the Terran moon. The First Light is given a
two month leave of absence while the crew recuperate, and DeSylva spends some
time in a cloning tank recovering from the injuries sustained during Vorne's
capture. DeSylva is once more assigned to command the ship and the ISS fleet.
December 3000 - The Insurgents launch a surprise attack on Procyon,
taking advantage of GALCOM’s committment to the Polaris conflict. The uprising
is unsuccesful, and rapidly quelled (CBS).
January 3001 - After several military actions in and around Vesperon
space, the GCV-Diligence, Commander Badgerius in charge, is vectored into Tau
Ceti to investigate after a rushed refit. The Diligence is attacked by Vesperon
forces, sparking a declaration of military sanctions by GALCOM. The GCV-Svoboda
is vectored into the area and remains hidden, preparing to try and talk the
Vesperons down and avert a full-scale war.
Eventually, the situation escalates, and EarthCOM and ISS craft are engaged
by Vesperon forces. The larger Vesperon fleet, although taking losses, manages
to push the Terran and GALCOM forces back towards Terran space, until a Syrion
fleet emerges from a jump gate and lays waste to the Vesperon forces in
retaliation for an attempted invasion of Syrion space.
The status of the Vesperons in GALCOM is changed to Tentative Member (ED).
February 3001 - The Gammulans launch a final attack on Sol space,
striking with a tiny strike force directly into Sol space, taking advantage of a
GALCOM force that is almost crippled after months of warfare in both Sol,
Polaris, and Procyon. The Deliverance is one of the few functional ships able to
launch against the Gammulan force. It wins the battle, but is badly damaged, and
many of the crew are killed (CBS).
March 3001 - Du Sandau is honoured for his services during the months
of warfare the Deliverance has seen (CBS).
June 3001 - In an escalation of the conflict between Vesperon and
Empirian forces, the Vesperon government begins utilising mercenary and raider
forces to destabilise the Procyon region. As a result, they are stripped of
their tentative member status and Operation Galactic Shield is commenced. The
briefing is below.
THEATRE OF OPS PROCYON / OMICRON ERIDANI Commander, the situation in Procyon is steadily going from bad to worse and
it does not look like it is going to get any better. Though we have been an
observation force in the past years, maintaining neutrality in the region as
talks continue between the Empirians and the Vesperons over control of the
region, a new variable has been introduced to this conflict.
We now have confirmed reports that the Vesperons, in an attempt to tip the
scales, have been employing the use of mercernary raiders and Insurgents, to
further destabilize the region and claim victory. They have also initiated a
direct attack on the stations within the Procyon regions.
The UFN has broken off its diplomatic status with the Vesperons and as of
this morning, they were effectively no longer a tentative member of GALCOM.
In addition, the Procyon and Procin stations are under heavy attack and
will most likely be under hostile control by the time we have new forces in
the region.
This mission, commanders, is the largest co-ordinated strike in the history
of GALCOM. Never before has a strike of this magnitude, ever been executed to
such a scale. This strike will be co-ordinated on several fronts as follows:
PRIME FLEET will proceed to Canaan and (1) deploy a marine strike team from
the 15th Space Marine Battalion to destroy the Badran and Frellis starbases as
well as all supporting assets in the vicinity (2) proceed to Omicron Eridani
and capture the Eridani and Ramis stations. On successful completion, the
fleet is to maintain a patrol profile in the system until otherwise advised.
ORION FLEET will proceed to Procyon and (1) deploy a marine strike team
from the 7th Orbital Marine Battalion to destroy the raider base on Actis-IV
as well as the Insurgent base on Actis-V (2) defend or re-capture the Procyon
station.
ISS FLEET will proceed to Procyon and (1) deploy a marine strike team from
the 666th Covert Ops Arm to assist the 7th Orbital Marine Battalion in the
destruction of the raider and Insurgent bases on Actis-IV and Actis-V (2)
defend or re-capture the Procin station.
WRAITH FLEET will remain on patrol profile in Polaris and (1) deploy marine
strike teams from the 15th Space Marine Battalion and the 7th Orbital Marine
Battalion to destroy all Insurgent bases detected on Polaris-1 and Polaris-2
(2) vector all non-military traffic out of Polaris 2, preventing them from
entering the strike zone. The task of the Wraith Fleet is particularly to
terminate, with extreme prejudice, any and all hostile ships, related to the
conflict in an attempt to prevent them from entering Procyon.
SCID Fleet will patrol all areas of conflict within Procyon and terminate
any and all detected space or planetary Insurgent assets.
Commanders, keep it simple. Keep it clean. Make it swift. At the same time, the GALCOM cloning project comes under fire after one of
the GCV-Svoboda's Interceptor pilots, who was cloned in an emergency and
returned to the flight roster, suffers a degradation of memory and personality
constructs. This pilot, originally killed during the conflict with the Vesperons
in January of 3001, causes much upheaval amongst the crew of the Svoboda. (TOL)
October 3001 - Fleet Commander Gareth DeSylva is acting as an envoy on
the Earth Command station of Warmage when a bomb is detonated within his
quarters. A large section of the station is damaged, DeSylva's quarters, and
those of his wife, are completely destroyed, and their remains are never
recovered. A memorial service is held later that month. Commander Gary Renwick
takes over command of the GCV-First Light, and command of the InSystem Support
fleet is handed to Fleet Commander Jeehun Ristar.
February 3003 - A group of ships are thrown into the thick of a new
plot when they discover that the many threads that tie Vorne’s defection and the
Gammulan war are all linked to one source - a source known only as the BSP. As
they delve further, they find a conspiracy that encompasses not only worlds, but
entire races - and no one is safe from the holocaust that is coming... (Fragments)
June 3004 - The crew of the GCV-Chikuma are told that the Supreme
Commander himself has been killed and are vectored into unknown space on a
secret mission. The ship's commander, Commander Stone, is fooled into taking the
mission by Fleet Commander Stiles of Orion Fleet. The mission is, in fact, a
preemptive strike, aimed not at the Gammulans, but at the Droidans and their
homeworld. Through great bravery and self sacrifice, the Chikuma's crew are able
to retake their ship from the homicidal Marine Colonel Mallone, discover the
true target for their mission, and destroy the R.A.N.D.O.M device that is set to
obliterate the Droidan homeworld. The Chikuma is later scuttled due to the
severe damage it sustained during the mission, the crew reassigned. Fleet
Commander Karl Savage takes over Orion Fleet.(PS)
June 3006 - The Gammulan Empire, allied with the Valkyrie, attempt an
invasion of Mandorian and Kandorian territories. War erupts, and fighting lasts
for six months, until the Gammulan forces are pushed back into Gammulan and
Valkerie territories. GALCOM is instrumental in this war effort in sending
support troops to aid the Kandorians and Mandorians in this war. In this first
test of GALCOM's power outside of it's own territories, it proves that Gammulan
expansion by force will not be tolerated.
13th March 3008 - The Gammulan War Council is overturned and a new
order is established. The Gammulan fleet masses for an immediate invasion of
Terran space. (Prelude)
March 3008 - The Second Gammulan War erupts. For four days, March 14th
to the 18th, a wave of Gammulan forces systematically obliterate the advance
facilities of GALCOM's Wraith Fleet from hiding places in asteroid belts and
debris fields in and around Gammulan, Credian, and Terran space. They then mass
for a frontal attack on Sol from Lyrius. The last remnants of Wraith Fleet
manage to hold off the Gammulan forces in a sixteen hour running battle through
Sirius space, until Prime and Orion Fleet reinforcements arrive to bolster the
flagging fleet and hold the Gammulans back.
This battle, known as the Wraith Massacre, would be the first confrontation
of a war that would ultimately last until 3014.
Terran bases and colonies in the Sirius, Polaris, and Procyon systems are
captured and the residents placed under arrest in their homes by Gammulan
forces. Rumours of atrocities being committed in the Procyon system filter
through to Terran media services. By the end of the war, civilian casualties are
estimated at around 3.2 million lives. The raider presence in Sirius is
eliminated, with Starstation Pixan being destroyed. The trader stations of
Centron and Velari are captured by Gammulan forces. The GCV-First Light is
destroyed defending retreating Wrath Fleet ships.(Fragments /

May 3008 - The capture of the Insurgent Akira, during the early days
of the Second Gammulan War, threatens to destabilise UFN-Insurgent relations
further. Rattler, Insurgent One, realises that a war between the UFN and the
Insurgents would simply weaken both groups and leave Terran space vulnerable to
the encroaching Gammulan forces. As a result, he recruits a group of Insurgent
and GALCOM commanders in order to liberate Akira, before his incarceration
triggers a war that neither side can win. Along with a paid Mercenary component,
they attempt to infiltrate a secret Earth Command base to liberate Akira. (ITF)
May 3008 - In the second major space confrontation in the Second
Gammulan War, a combined EarthCOM and GALCOM fleet pushes through to hold the
Lyrius region of Sirius. Nearly fifteen Terran capital ships are lost, as
opposed to twenty five Gammulan capital ships. The Gammulans reinforce their
position behind the Lennen jumpate.
October 3008 - While repeated clashes occur between Terran and
Gammulan forces across the Lyrius-Lennen battlefield, reserve Gammulan forces
are pushing into Insurgent and Raider territory. By the end of October 3008,
Gammulan forces occupy Barnard's Star, Polaris, and Procyon. the Raiders are
quickly vanquished, but the invasion of Barnard's Star costs Gammulan forces
heavily as the Insurgents resist the Gammulan incursion, before pulling back and
filtering through to their secret base in Credian territory.
April 3009 - Terran forces mount another push, managing to smash their
way into Lennen and hold the Lennen side of the Polaris-2 jump point. The Battle
of Lennen costs Terran forces nearly ten thousand lives, while the Gammulans
manage to escape relatively unscathed, falling back and abandoning Lennen when
they become outnumbered.
Construction begins on Starstation Liberty, a fortified outpost built in the
remains of Pixan Starstation, that will house the Terran Area Command. It's
construction takes approximately four months.
December 3009 - A combined GALCOM Prime, Orion, and EarthCOM force,
codenamed Unicorn, manages to penetrate Barnard's Star and establish a foothold
in the Zilon region. With support from the science outpost Toron 1 in Krystar,
as well as Trader security forces from the trading outpost at Toron 2 in
Rebellan, they begin a concentrated campaign against Gammulan forces in the
area.
May 3010 - The Battle of Two Fronts is fought in Sygan, the old home
of the Insurgency and now a Gammulan stronghold. The remains of the Unicorn
force launch a final attack on the Gammulan forces operating out of Starstation
Sygan, and are joined by a second force of Wraith Fleet craft attacking from
Lennen. In an eight hour battle, Starstation Sygan is destroyed and the Gammulan
Fleet is all but obliterated. This is the first major Gammulan loss in the war.
Gammulan forces begin to regroup in Polaris and Procyon. In what is to become a
standard tactic, Gammulan forces scatter when the call to retreat is made and
hide throughout the Barnard's Star and Tau Ranis systems, continuing to make
sporadic raids and attacks until the end of the war..
October 3010 - The 133rd Space Marine Battalion (Strike), nicknamed
the "Serpent's Cross", defect in their entirety to Gammulan forces. In a battle
known as the Turning War, the 133rd Space Marine Battalion turn on their
counterparts, the 143rd Space Marine Battalion (Strike) in the midst of a fight
with Gammulan forces. All of the ships of the 143rd are destroyed and the
Serpent's Cross disappear behind enemy lines.
EarthCOM renegade hunters manage to capture only two of the renegade vessels.
Interrogation of the Command Crews of these craft reveals that the Commanding
Officer of the 133rd Space Marine Battalion, Fleet Commander Terence Dreyton, a
talented GALCOM officer, was lured to defect with the promise of a High Command
position in the Gammulan Empire.
The 133rd Space Marine Battalion took with it 30 GALCOM capital ships and
around 25,000 GALCOM personnel. A month later, three of the Battalion's
transports are discovered in Polaris-2, loaded with nearly ten thousand dead
Terrans, presumably those who refused to defect.
By the end of the war, only 10 of the ships of the 133rd Space Marine
Battalion would be recovered or destroyed. It is assumed that the remaining
craft and their crew were retained by the Gammulans for study and research.
April 3011 - A concerted Gammulan counterstrike lays siege to
Starstation Liberty in Lennen. Over the course of a week, Gammulan forces
blockade the station, fending off four attempts to recapture the station.
Eventually, the crew of the Liberty evacuate, and half of the evacuation craft
are destroyed, the remainder being picked up by Terran forces in the area. The
Command Crew of the station remain on board, capitulating to the Gammulan
forces, before self-destructing the station. In doing so, they destroy both
themselves and six Gammulan capital ships attempting to board the station.
The loss of a foothold in Lennen leads to Terran forces having to withdraw to
Lyrius. For the first time in the war, Sol begins to be fortified in
anticipation of Gammulan forces breaking through. Over the next year, Terran
forces manage to hold off numerous Gammulan assaults, taking heavy losses. This
time becomes known as the Dark Days.
January 3012 - GALCOM diplomats strike a bargain with Syrion forces.
The enigmatic biomechanicals agree to mobilise a part of their army to provide a
military force that can guard the GALCOM territories and defend them from an
attack from the rear, as occurred in the First Gammulan War. As a result,
EarthCOM and the GALCOM allied races are able to throw their remaining ships
into the war effort. The Vesperons and Empirians are initially reluctant to
commit, but as the Terran war effort falters in Sirius and the Gammulans
threaten to penetrate Sol itself, they realise that an invasion of Sol means
that an attack on Empirian and Vesperon territories could be imminent.
March 3012 - With the new ships, the combined GALCOM and EarthCOM
forces are able to push back into Lennen and recommence attacks on the bulk of
the Gammulan forces in Polaris-2. In a large scale battle known as the Battle of
Longreach-424, named after a comet that was passing through the area of the
battle, GALCOM and allied fighters use the tail of the comet to launch a series
of hit and fade attacks on Gammulan forces, until they retreat from Lennen.
The close of the Battle of Longreach-424, after approximately five days, sees
the loss of 38 GALCOM and EarthCOM allied capital ships and around 65 Gammulan
capital ships. The GALCOM and Terran forces begin construction of a more heavily
fortified starstation in orbit around Lennen, to house Area Command, and it is
christened on it's completion as Starstation Victory.
June 3012 - Luis Ontego, a 35 year old Terran GACOM scientist,
develops the Area Defense Shield, a type of shield generator able to project
stable, large scale 360 degree defensive fields. This new technology is
earmarked for inclusion into the new GALCOM battlecruiser under development to
assist in the war effort, code named Starion.
September 3013 - The turning point of the war for the Terrans occurs
when they launch the final strike of a covert operation in the Polaris-2 region.
A large scale Hyperion manufacturing facility and a major Gammulan Fleet
preparing to attack Sol is discovered and destroyed with the use of two powerful
nuclear devices mounted on ships flown by pilots operating out of the
GCV-Armidale, a GALCOM military ship.
January 3014 - With the loss of the GCV-Armidale, a new Megaron class
carrier is released into the InSystem Support Fleet, and is christened the
GCV-First Light, in memory of the original ship. Commander Gary Renwick is made
commander of this new ship.
February 3014 - With the tide of the war beginning to turn in Terran
favour, and Terran resources running desperately low, the Starion project is put
on hold indefinitely.
July 3014 - In a decisive strike against Gammulan forces, a large
GALCOM / EarthCOM fleet pushes through the remaining Gammulan defences in
Polaris-2 to strike directly at the Gammulan starbase and war command in
Polaris-1. At the same time, a small group of ISS and Wraith covert marines
penetrate Procyon space to plant a tactical nuclear device on the secondary
command facility in orbit around Actis IV. With the back of the Gammulan command
broken in these two places, the Gammulans begin a steady withdrawal through the
Credian quadrant.
August 3014 - GALCOM and UFN diplomats begin negotiations with Credian
and Zelon forces to try and close the space lanes to future Gammulan forces.
These negotiations are for the most part unsuccesful, although the Zelons agree
to limit Gammulan military fleet movement through their territory, as well as to
impose trade sanctions on the Gammulans in retaliation for the war. January 3014 - After almost 13 years working as an undercover
operative for Galactic Command, Gareth DeSylva is returned to active duty and
takes the flag of the GCV-First Light, leaving Gary Renwick as commander. (Fragments)
Between March and May 3008 - Akuma Minako, Commander of the
GCV-Tenchi, launches without permission and rendevous with the ICV-Nevermore and
the ICV-Drakr. Her recklessness comes to the attention of Fleet Commander
Savage, who orders her retrieved and relieved of duty. A GALCOM-Insurgent battle
ensues, and Commander Minako attempts suicide. The Insurgent Akira is captured
by Earth command SCID forces. (Joyride)
